In 2010, G-Spot was given “Outstanding Award in House” Presented to him to his surprise after his Pipeline Hawaii gig Motion Music Festival, by the Godfather of House: Jesse Saunders.

BIO PRINTED IN PACIFIC EDGE MAGAZINE:

Most DJs you might ask, “What cities have you DJed in?” With DJ G-Spot, it’s more of a question of “What Country!” Since you asked… countries include, Japan, Australia, Thailand, England, Ireland, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Kenya, Iceland, Guatemala, Columbia, Venezuela, just to name a few.

DJ G-Spot, (“G” as he is called by most, short for Greg. And the latter part of his name “Spot”, is an actual childhood nickname given to him by his 2 older brothers.) Is arguably one of Hawaii’s busiest & most favored DJ, being named “Best DJ in Honolulu” by the readers of Honolulu Weekly in 1998. Europe’s MIXER MAGAZINE, DJ MAG [United Kingdom press] recommends its readers traveling to Hawaii, Chicago or Miami to catch G-Spot spinning. G was also a key character on a 1 hour BBC Television special that featured then #1 DJ in the world, Carl Cox who brought in the 2000 Millennium New Years in both Australia & Hawaii.

Currently G-Spot is a DJ and promotions director for Hype Hawaii and OOSPOT.com. He also holds high profile sponsorships with Coors Light, Red Bull & Ezekiel Clothing, Pacific Diamond, FIJI Water, Vodka Brands and Blue Moon. He also runs several weeklies and large annual events under his promotion banner, Double-O-Spot. G-Spot is also heavily involved in radio including being a producer, host & mix show DJ for 93.1FM, 102.7FM & 93.9FM. Lastly, still going strong for close to 17 years now is his patented ‘Underground Sounds’ Radio show that airs every Friday 6-9pm on KTUH 90.3FM. Every Saturday Night is G-Spot’s “POP ROX” mix show 9-11pm where he spins Old-school 80s and Rock and Dash of 70’s n 90’s.

Spot has volunteered his music, Dj services, sound and lighting systems for over One Hundred Charity Events and Organizations which also includes: Red Cross, Earth Alert, Collage Radio; WNUR Northwestern University, KTUH University of Hawaii & WVUM University of Miami, Florida Water Environmental Engineers, The Life Foundation, Student Educators Against Aids, University Of Hawaii Office of Student Affairs, Everett E. Black Scholarship Trust, University Of Hawaii Student Health Services, The State Of Hawaii Millennium Commission, Equality Hawaii, University of Hawaii Foundation, Transportation Research Board, Greenpeace, Music for the Blind, University of Hawaii KTUH FUND, University of Hawaii Centennial Campaign, The Miami Engineer Inc., Water Environment Federation (WEF), ARTSmith Collective, American Red Cross, American Red Cross Hawaii State Chapter, University Of Miami, University of Miami Collage of Engineering, AIDS Project Fund, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), DJs Against AIDS, Sierra Club, Southern Poverty Law Center, Pussy Riot Legal Defense Fund, Kapiolani Community College, Hawaii Food Bank, Saint Scholastic Nuns [Chicago, IL], American Heart Association, American Strike Association, Blacktie Blue Jeans, Art After Dark (AAD),  Honolulu Academy of the Arts, The Natural Defense Council (NRDC), The Jane Goodall Institute,  Indian American Friendship Council, 420 Hunnys, Gandhi International Institute for Peace, International Day of Nonviolence, Shelter Alliance, Jen Mar, Ohana Love, Michelle Obama, Eagle Project, Eagle Scout’s, Heart for HUGS, Golden Voice, University Of Miami, Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship, National Highway Institute, Volunteer Spirit Award, Illinois Association of Highway Engineers, Boy Scouts of American, Girl Scouts of America, and University of Miami Legacy Fund.

“There was a point where I was DJing 3-4 gigs in one night” G reflects with a sense of wonderment. An all too typical day for G would include him running through endless meetings with sponsors, venues, managers & promoters, shooting over to the radio station at 6pm to host his radio show, then off to his first club gig of the night at The W hotel at 10pm, then off to another gig ’til 3am and finally to an after hours joint to rock the house ’til the sun comes up.

We are looking forward to GSPOT’s mixes this Saturday, March 10, 2018 for MASUIMI MAX LIVE PERFORMANCE AT NEXT DOOR. Hope you can join us and please share.

TEMPLE TRIBAL FUSION BELLYDANCER NAGASITA PERFORMS WITH DAVID J (Bauhaus/Love and Rockets)

She has been a sought after belly dancer and teacher of the Pacific NW region,  teaching Tribal Nouveau Temple Dance and Ritual Theatre Internationally. I am so honored that she accepted my invitation to come to Honolulu to perform at David J’s live music performance on Saturday, December 2nd at Next Door (43 North Hotel Street, Honolulu, Hawaii).

I first met Nagasita in 2012 when the Middle Eastern Dance Artists of Hawaii brought Nagasita to Honolulu where she conducted workshops and performed  along with Shakti Dance Movement who shared the stage with her along with others.  Nagasita is a stunning performer to watch and she moves like a serpent, the “Princess of the Serpent Land.”

The beautiful and mesmerizing Nagasita is a Temple Tribal Fusion Belly Dancer who studied under Kashmir Shaivism at the Rudrananda Ashram where she learned  ancient ritual practices from India and Tibet.  Avant garde, innovative and in the cutting-edge of her craft,  she is one of the pioneers of ritual performance in Tribal Bellydance today.

Born in Oahu and later moving to the Big Island, Nagasita danced Kahiko with the Hula Halau which led to an affinity for sacred interpretations through movement.  She is also experienced in yoga and a certified Vinyasa Yoga instructor. Nagasita has studied under the teachings of Tribal Fusion bellydance legends, Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, Mardi Love, Moria Chappell and Severina. She spent a number of years studying Odissi Indian Classical dance under the guidance of Jamie Lynn Colley, Colleena Shakti and Moria Chappell, and Butoh with Mizu Dezierto.  She teaches various workshops internationally such as Ritual Theatre, costuming and adornment and so much more. As the founder of Tribal Nouveau Temple Dance Troupe APSARA, she also co-produced the Anahata Festival and world renowned Eastern Nouveau Dance showcase Salon L’Orient and was the director of the dark theatre troupe she founded called Bogville while living in Portland, just to name a few.

Thank you for the Honolulu Star Advertiser and Elizabeth Kieszkowski for the awesome write up in the TGIF Section page 3 on David J, bassist and founding member of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets and Nagasita.
