The Smiths, formed in Manchester in 1982, consisted of vocalist Morrissey; guitarist Johnny Marr; bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce.  Critics have called them the most important alternative rock band to emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s.

The group signed to the independent record label Rough Trade Records and released four studio albums, The Smiths (1984), Meat is Murder (1985), The Queen is Dead (1986) and Strangeways, here we come (1987). Four of their albums (including three studio albums).  They have been a big influence in many

rock bands today and the music scene all over the world.

The Bougies are an indie garage pop band from Honolulu, Hawaii. Established in 2011, they started off as a brother-sister duo with Jordan Bongolan as vocalist and guitarist and Kelly Bongolan on the drums. Wanting a fuller sound, they blossomed into a 4 piece band with the addition of Joy Furushima (bass) and Josh Gonzales (lead guitarist) and have refined their sound into what has been described as, “Pop Rocks; sweet with a bite!” They’ve been compared to bands such as The Strokes and Best Coast, with Jordan’s vocals being likened to Thom Yorke of Radiohead and Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins.

You can hear some of their tunes here: https://www.reverbnation.com/thebougies

The Bougies will be opening for Echosmith coming to the Republik on August 5, 2015.  For more details:   http://jointherepublik.com/events/echosmith/

ABOUT ALOHA UNDERTAKERS

Aloha Undertakers is a  comedy web series created by Kiran Chitanvis and Gilani Sumida-Moiseff.  Matt Duffy is the Executive Producer  and plays the part of Mr. Duff, the mortuary boss. There are several casts and characters.

Aloha Undertakers is a fictional, episodic comedy about a gang of ambitious mortuary employees taking on the Medical Examiner and various homicidal weirdos of O’ahu.  These four episodes follow two parallel worlds – that of Condor Berry, a disgruntled male nurse, his cunning mental patient Sally, and the employees of Aloha Undertakers, as they battle the Medical Examiner and CSI techs for a (hilariously) brutal beach crime scene.  In the vein of Brooklyn-99, it’s Parks and Recreation meets CSI, set against a beautiful Hawaiian backdrop.

These first four episodes of Aloha Undertakers, titled “The Prequilogy: Parts I through IV” welcome you into the world of the Undertakers on the eve of a management turnover, shot entirely on location in O’ahu, Hawai’i.

Hope you can tune in.  Thank you for listening and for your continued support !
